Business Entities, Laws, and Regulations Paper Essay Example for Free

Business Entities, Laws, and Regulations Paper Essay There are various situations with three unique types of substances that require taking control, tax collection, and conceivable obligation issues into account. These contemplations won't just serve to guarantee consistence is met yet in addition with the goal that every foundation is ensured. In the primary situation Lou and Jose plan to open an eatery/sports bar, the issue is that they have not amassed of the cash, yet Miriam, a prosperous financial specialist is eager to contribute the assets in spite of the fact that she doesn’t have the opportunity to be truly engaged with the business. In the subsequent situation Frank happens to be a rich financial specialist who has a methodology to open up a chain of killing organizations all through the United States. The third situation is Akiva and Tara needs to open an authorized obstetrician office, they will apply for a new line of credit for startup costs. The fourth and last situation a development organization is employing and has explicit occupation prerequisites that must be met so as to be chosen as the last competitor. Eatery/Bar Lou and Jose plan to open a game bar/café, a spot where client will have the option to mingle while watching sports on huge screen TVs. The significant issue is that Lou and Jose don't have the assets to put these designs to activity. Be that as it may, they do know about an affluent financial specialist Miriam, who is happy to put her riches in making the game bar/eatery occur. Miriam doesn’t have a lot of time to be associated with the everyday activity except is willing give capital consequently to a level of possession. It is at Lou’s and Jose’s wellbeing to make their business a Limited Partnership business. A restricted organization is the most ideal alternative for Lou and Jose since they have one accomplice who will put capital however will pass on the board (Cheeseman, 2010). So as to do so Lou and Jose must document for an endorsement of Limited Partnership through the secretary of state and should consent to the legal necessity of the RULPA (Revised Uniform Limited Partnership Act) (Cheeseman, 2010). When the declaration of restricted organization is documented a constrained association is framed. Each accomplice will be liable for recording their own duty data and they will likewise be liable for the announcing of the organization charge data all in all. Annihilation business situation Honest is a prosperous financial specialist who might want to open a chain of eliminating organizations all through the United States. Since Frank is keen on opening a few foundations all through the United States, the most ideal alternative for him is have his business set up as an establishment business. In his specific case a chain-style establishment would be progressively helpful as this would permit every foundation to make and offer its administrations to the general population in the various pieces of the nation. Straight to the point as the franchisor would be answerable for his own agreements and torts and the franchisee is at risk for his own agreements and torts. Each prospect franchisee would need to apply with franchisor for an establishment. Whenever affirmed the gatherings would enter an establishment understanding and the franchisor and franchisee would be set up as isolated elements. Thusly every activity proprietor is liable for recording their duty archives and guaranteeing that they are in consistence. Proficient Practice Akiva and Tara have finished all the prerequisites required for them to open up their own obstetrician’s office. Since Akiva and Tara are only recently out of the clinical field, I believe that they might need to consider having a LLC. A constrained obligation organization (LLC) is a unincorporated business element that consolidates the most great characteristics of general associations, restricted organizations, and companies. A LLC is burdened as an organization except if it decides to be burdened as a partnership, the proprietors can deal with the business, and the proprietors have constrained risk. Numerous business people who start new organizations pick the LLC as their authoritative document for leading business† (Cheeseman, 2010. P. 267). A LLC is a different lawful unit (or legitimate individual) separate from its partners. LLCs can sue or be sued by individuals who have gone into a lawful agreement. Development Scenario In this situation Surebuild, Inc is another development organization and Mei-Lin is the recruiting administrator and is found in a problem of which possibility to meet as she has explicitly expressed in the depiction that a secondary school confirmation is required from that of the fruitful up-and-comer. The principal thing Surebuild, Inc needs to do is to employ a Human Resource Manager to guarantee that Surebuild is in consistence with the bureaucratic, state, and neighborhood government. With respect to candidates that have applied Surebuild needs to abstain from settling on any choice that may abuse segregation of sex, age, starting point of nationality. One of the candidates is Michelle, who is 35 years old who demonstrates to be pregnant and happens to be a secondary school graduate, and was once utilized as a jackhammer administrator. For this situation Surebuild, Inc need to ensure there is no oppression Michelle since she is a female who happens to be pregnant or the organization will be at risk and most likely sued. Particularly in light of the fact that Michelle has met the necessity recorded as a capability for a fruitful applicant. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was established to dispose of occupation separation dependent on race, shading, religion, sex, and national inception. Another candidate is Eric who is 55 years old who has involvement in a jackhammer without a secondary school recognition. For this situation if the organization is explicitly searching for understanding on the jackhammer they have to concentrate on that and settle on their choice dependent on the equivalent and not on Eric’s age since then they would submit oppression age. The safeguard the organization can have is that Eric doesn't have a secondary school confirmation a particular prerequisite that must be met. Felipe is a multi year old candidate who doesn't talk any English and furthermore has no secondary school confirmation. The necessity for this position additionally expresses that the applicant is required to have a secondary school certificate, something Felipe doesn't have. The way that Felipe doesn't communicate in English can be viewed as a separation of root of nationality however the organization has confirmation that the candidate didn't meet the prerequisites as he doesn't have a secondary school recognition. The last candidate is Nick a multi year old college alumni who happens to be epileptic, and no involvement in a jackhammer. Under the Title I of the ADA expresses that work victimization people who are qualified with inabilities in regard to request for employment methods, recruiting pay, preparing, advancement and end is disallowed. Cheeseman, 2010. For this situation the organization should talk with Nick as they would any conceivable up-and-comer and make their assurance dependent on their activity prerequisites and the positions necessities. For this situation he has in excess of a secondary school confirmation yet does not have the experience, he can be given preparing and conceivably figure out how to utilize a jackhammer yet on the off chance that the activity can't oblige his epileptic condition as well as will he be at a higher danger of injury on account of the kind of employment then the organization. Each company’s top need for its representatives is to guarantee the security of its workers and if Nick’s circular condition can make serious injury him or everyone around him while dealing with the jackhammer then the organization needs to settle on a choice of not employing Nick. Should they recruit him with his condition and a mishap happens that cause’s significant injury to Nick or another worker the organization can be obligated and required to pay the costs, doctor's visit expenses, and correctional harms. The organization can even be sued. Everybody business has a duty of guaranteeing that not exclusively are they in consistence with the secretary of state with regards to the best possible enrollment of their business yet they likewise have a gigantic obligation to society, its representatives, and to themselves. It is significant that each business comprehend that there are government, state, and nearby guidelines they should submit to so as to dodge risk and potentially claims. It is likewise significant that they submit to them so as to give reasonable and appropriate treatment to its staff as those are the people that drive the organization and a large portion of the occasions make it a fruitful business. This not exclusively is advantageous to the organization however to the representatives and to our reality economy.

Was The Bosnian War An Ethnic Conflict Politics Essay

Was The Bosnian War An Ethnic Conflict Politics Essay The procedure by which one sees a given circumstance can be deceiving, particularly when the data being transferred is shaped in a specific configuration to the preferring of the transmitter. World perspectives on the war that occurred in Bosnia somewhere in the range of 1992 and 1995 leave most to reason that the pressure was an exemplary instance of ethnic clash. This paper will investigate the multidimensionality of the contention in order to shed light on different territories of stress that may have added to the framing or flare-up of the war by surveying the general disunity as far as measures set up by speculations of ethnic clash. Subsequent to offering meanings of some key terms that will be utilized in this composition, the article will give a short history of the contention, single out ethnic and personality business visionaries, rediscover underlying foundations of any current disposition or stressors (remembering polarization and pillarisation for the contention), presen t hypotheses of ethnic clash, and show a point by point investigation through audit of writing before finishing up. An investigation of the differing faã §ades in this contention will fill in as a reason for correlation for focal points, on-screen characters or gatherings included, and will feature how these elements affected the flood of occasions that occurred. Could the contention in Bosnia be viewed as exclusively an ethnic clash? This paper will try to challenge the status of this war, as simply ethnic, by demonstrating that there exist measurements of this contention which render it difficult to repudiate the nearness of persuading supporting proof with respect to the job of ethnicity and ethnic assorted variety as a reason for common war. Definitions It is imperative to bring up that due to the passing enormous number of death toll and the nature in which that misfortune occurred in this contention, it can and will be named as a war and destruction. For the motivations behind this paper, while it isn't generally the situation that ethnic gatherings share selective dialects or affiliations, ethnicity, will allude to the presence of a remarkable arrangement of racial, recorded, phonetic, strict, social and additionally tribal qualities, all common explicitly by a given gathering of people. National and ethnic character, address the outskirts of a solitary idea, personality; it would appear to be fitting to relate them as far as the contention to be referenced, as the two of them have an influence in its history. Walker Connor characterizes this kind of way of life just like oneself perspective on ones gathering, instead of the unmistakable qualities, that is of substance in deciding the presence or non-presence of ones country (Qtd in Davis, 1999), while the nearness of this sort of personality isn't generally steady or fixed, as ethnicity is dynamic (Feron, Introduction to Concepts of Conflict, War Violence 2009). This paper will feature four gatherings associated with this contention: the Serbs (mostly Orthodox gathering), the Bosniaks (Muslim gathering), the Croats (for the most part Catholic gathering), and potential causative remote on-screen characters included straightforwardly or in a roundabout way in this contention through investment or premium. A key term in this paper, partiality, is characterized by Herbert Blumer as a defensive gadget. It works anyway limitedly to safeguard the trustworthiness and position of the predominant gathering (Qtd in Kunovich and Hodson, 2002). In conclusion, the term ethnic clash, will show a circumstance of contention, a conflicting of objectives among at least two gatherings or ethnic gatherings, some of the time portraying antiquated abhorrences, segregation or exp loitation using news sources as well as authentic record, the conceivable association of ethnic or personality business visionaries whose commitment straightforwardly or in a roundabout way prompts an essential type of pressure set on any of the given gatherings or ethnic gatherings, separating the gathering in a way which may prompt the introduction of a feeling of outside danger and bringing about a need to save the character itself (Feron, Ethnicity Conflict 2009). History The Former Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) has had a multi-social and was constantly comprised of multi-ethnic nations, while continually falling under new standard or organization each guided by various philosophies. This establishment makes for a reproducing ground of assortment, hatred, additions and misfortunes, and above all else change ever-present. As socialism lost is hang on FRY, new, patriot and dissident philosophies started to become mainstream among the regions. Slobodan Miloã… Â ¡eviㄆ¡ was put into office in 1989, and immediately revised the Serbia constitution to take into account impact in Kosovo and Vojvodina (Region at present in the North of Serbia, which used to relate to Hungary), which gave Serbia access to more decisions on the administrative degree of Yugoslavias government. Montenegros vote at that point implied an extra decision in favor of Serbia, leaving Serbia as the most impressive submit the administration (Ron 2000). Bosnia was viewed as a c olorful nation among European countries, because of its occupants and rich melange of societies. Bosnia was a cosmopolitan nation where in excess of a fourth of relationships slice through social partitions (Lifschultz and Ali 1994). As the new patriot and rebel attitudes length over the regions of FRY, for the most part in Croatia and Serbia, things started to turn out to be certain that change was soon. After endeavors to split Bosnia, into managerial and ethnic regions, demonstrated semi-effective, however not without episodes for equity, it appeared to be inescapable that the second had sought freedom. Bosnia was at that point separated into the Croatian Republic of Herzeg-Bosnia, Republika Srpska, and around a similar time, both Slovenia and Croatia picking up autonomy from FRY. The then concealed at this point not unthought-of circumstance was increasingly obvious step by step; if Slovenia and Croatia were to withdraw from Yugoslavia, Bosnia would actually be helpless before t he Milosevic system. Issues would then be normal from all sides of Bosnia, also the bigger shrewdness, as observed by Bosnians at that time Greater Serbia. Because of the division of Croatia and Slovenia, much after musings to seek after a looser Yugoslavia Serbia would start feeling its establishment and republic, rapidly dropping out underneath it, this solitary made political pioneers think about preemptive activity, as assault. The republic turned out to be more precarious than any time in recent memory when the legislature in Bosnia clarified that when Slovenia and Croatia looked for autonomy from FRY, that it would no uncertainty be compelled to look for a similar freedom, and Bosnia and Herzegovina started the choice for freedom the same. On March 5, 1992, parliament pronounced freedom for Bosnia and Herzegovina, which shook the seat on which FRYs government had been established, (Ron 2000). It is this course of events of occasions that diagrams the circumstance wherein Bosni a ended up enduring an onslaught both all things considered and within, including mass assault, killings, torment, persecution lastly the loss of around 200.000 lives. It is the recognizable proof of these sides which will demonstrate intriguing in testing speculations of ethnic clash on the contention in Bosnia. Ethnic Identity Entrepreneurs In some random clash there makes certain to exist the individuals who by one way or another figure out how to utilize a current dread or detest, to pressure or convince others to feel jeopardized or moved to act. Franjo Tuã„‘man, of Croatia, and Slobodan Miloã… Â ¡eviㄆ¡, of Serbia, went into conversations which are known as the Karaã„‘orã„‘evo Agreement, which did only that by guaranteeing rights to parts of Bosnia dependent on ethnic and segment make-up (Ron 2000). As referenced in the history (preceding the flare-up of this contention) segment of this article, Croatia and Serbia volunteered to split Bosnia-preferring ethnic enclaves and making new republics for which, obviously, new impacts and additionally votes could be effectively controlled, in the extraordinary plan of increasing increasingly more land and authority. Populaces were caused to feel that their ethnic personality was remotely compromised, and that there was by one way or an other a need to secure it at any cost-first by detachment and later through physical fight. Different pioneers, countries, substances, had made their perspectives understood, that they would not meddle in this contention and that they would likewise not represent Bosnia to protect itself, without the constrained endeavor to influence Bosnia toward giving up and winding up a vulnerable pawn in the global framework, left to be cut or shaped at the same time losing its uniqueness (Kunovich and Hodson 2002). The issue with interceding in this issue, for the United States, and General Colin Powell, in 1992, was the subject of conveying ground troops into Bosnia, something that would have held an expense of several billions of dollars. That specific purpose of discussion brought the boards down another road of conversation and obviously confused the circumstance of helping Bosnia (Lifschultz and Ali 1994). Afterward, the United States, the European people group, and the United Nations, we nt into a political cluster in what appeared to keep going forever. The procedure appeared as a noteworthy arrangement banter, a talk looking for reasons, while, in Diego Arrias adept expression, slow-movement decimation was efficiently done in Bosnia (Lifschultz and Ali 1994). The Serbs and the Croats had made a move to endeavor to pull out of the game with more land, greater position and less resistance, yet these activities don't legitimately focus on an ethnicity, and don't appear to be totally or even basically ethnically based strategic choices. After such a fiasco, it was clear that life and environmental factors reverberated the eradicating of certain ethnic characteristics, yet there was consistently a ulterior thought process present. Bosnia as it had existed for six centuries must be demolished; the texture which wove the lives of its numerous people groups together torn unrecoverable; the steadfastness of its indigenous Serb and Croat people group to a multi-ethnic Bosnian country sabotaged;

How intrigue bunches campaign the president and how fruitful are they - Research Paper Example These could either be through individual enrollment or participation through associations. The fundamental point is normally seen to be the assurance of a particular or a specific intrigue. This has commonly made intrigue bunches appear as self-intrigued and tight; with no respect for open great. Additionally, it is ordinarily accepted that an intrigue bunch as an association has objectives or arrangements that are comparable and that their goal as an association is to utilize their impact on the political procedure to give them the edge they have to accomplish these objectives. To clarify the significance of intrigue bunches in legislative issues just as the open approach making process, various hypotheses has been created and embraced by researchers. Hypotheses, for example, first class, pluralism, unsettling influence among others have all been created. In the beginning of Republican type of administration, the solidarity, just as the force parity of the country was a lot of compromised by this intrigue gatherings, yet federalist declaration permitted the prospering of these alleged intrigue bunches with the contention that an offset would originate from different gatherings that were similarly egotistical consequently containing the impact of outside influence.1 The result of this was the spread of Republican type of government instead of an unadulterated popular government a situation that the counter federalists completely couldn't help contradicting on the grounds that in their view, decent variety of interests in nation that is huge in size was just formula for blocking of the solidarity of the nation. As per the

10 Ways to Render Sentences More Concise

10 Ways to Render Sentences More Concise 10 Ways to Render Sentences More Concise 10 Ways to Render Sentences More Concise By Mark Nichol This post subtleties different procedures for diminishing and rearranging sentences. 1. Sentence Combination Stay away from successive sentences that end and start, individually, with a similar word or expression as happens here: A typical method to follow the present condition of frameworks is checking execution measurements. Execution measurements show how resources are performing at the exchange level. In such cases, supplant the period between them with a comma and erase the second emphasis of the word or expression with which: â€Å"A regular approach to follow the present condition of frameworks is checking execution measurements, which show how resources are performing at the exchange level.† 2. Gathering by Subordination At the point when a sentence incorporates two back to back action word phrases, consider changing over one to a subordinate statement. For instance, note how the subject of this sentence is trailed by two proclamations of actuality: The famous tea is an image of the city’s generous accommodation and is frequently served in a glass to show its jade-green shading. The primary proclamation can without much of a stretch be subsumed into the fundamental provision as an incidental expression: â€Å"The famous tea, an image of the city’s generous neighborliness, is regularly served in a glass to show its jade-green color.† 3. Combination of Clauses Here, an early on subordinate proviso sets up a superfluously tedious sentence: For human services substances with comparable classes of clients, they might have the option to decrease the general assessment exertion by applying the portfolio approach. The proviso is effectively coordinated into the primary condition by overlooking for and treating â€Å"health care entities,† as opposed to they, as the sentence’s subject: â€Å"Health care elements with comparative classes of clients might have the option to diminish the general assessment exertion by applying the portfolio approach.† 4. Denominalization Nominalization is the difficulty of writing by utilizing things while utilizing the action word type of that thing, or reexamining the sentence to take out the requirement for a thing, creates all the more clear, compact composition; things, obviously, are fundamental to exposition at the same time, particularly on account of formal things with so much components as - ation, they can be manhandled in the administration of passing on power. This sentence isn't excessively formal, yet it is wordier than would normally be appropriate: Besides, organizations are taking reinforcements of the creation applications and putting away them for inconclusive periods. Denominalization-actually, â€Å"unnaming†-is basically an extravagant method of saying â€Å"rephrasing to kill nouns.† Note that in this sentence, the thing reinforcements can be changed over to an action word, rendering the action word taking pointless, and the last expression can be consolidated by changing the descriptive word inconclusive into an intensifier, which empowers erasure of the thing time frames: â€Å"Furthermore, organizations are backing up the creation applications and putting away them indefinitely.† The accompanying sentence is a case of an announcement with a twofold decker nominalization: The board may think that its helpful to take part in an exchange on an intermittent premise with respect to the organization’s arrangement. As in the past model, single word effectively replaces an expression â€Å"on an intermittent basis† can be diminished to occasionally: â€Å"Management may think that its advantageous to intermittently participate in a discourse in regards to the organization’s policy.† Be that as it may, further decrease is accomplished by supplanting the expression â€Å"engage in a dialogue† with an interchangeable word: â€Å"Management may think that its useful to intermittently talk about the organization’s policy.† 5. Utilizing Terms Rather Than Definitions One procedure to accomplish succinctness is to abstain from portraying something by characterizing it; note the clarification in the accompanying sentence: He was inclined to committing humiliating errors out in the open. Here, the people conduct can be portrayed with a term that exemplifies the definition: â€Å"He was inclined to submitting fake pas.† 6. Cancellation of Expletives The swearwords â€Å"there is† and â€Å"there are† are poor substitutes for a solid subject; note how the accompanying sentence gets looking feeble so far: There are hardly any, fund and bookkeeping divisions that are not encountering some type of outrageous change. Interjections need not be extracted for each situation, yet limit their utilization by erasing such expressions for the clear thing or thing phrase that follows (and erase the related that that shows up later in the sentence): â€Å"Few, assuming any, money and bookkeeping offices are not encountering some type of outrageous change.† 7. Staying away from Tautology Repetition is excess or redundancy, for example, appeared here: Would you be able to rehash that? To rehash is to accomplish something, so this sentence is proportionate to â€Å"Could you state that again again?† Indicate the activity somehow: â€Å"Could you state that again?† or, all the more succinctly, â€Å"Could you rehash that?† 8. Utilizing Brief Modifiers While adjusting a thing to give more data about it, utilize a former descriptive word or phrasal descriptor as opposed to an all-encompassing expression following the thing. The accompanying sentence shows utilization of a verbose changing expression: She offered a clarification that was brief and to the point. This sentence can be taken care of by finding the portrayal of the clarification before the thing: â€Å"She offered a brief, to-the-point explanation.† 9. Extracting Single Words Here and there, decreasing a sentence by only single word improves it, as appeared in the accompanying models: As opposed to evaluating the entirety of the agreements, select a delegate test to survey. In the expression â€Å"all of,† of is commonly unnecessary: â€Å"Rather than evaluating all the agreements, select an agent test to assess.† How is innovation assisting with changing the manner in which older individuals are thought about? In the expression â€Å"helping to,† to is incidental: How is innovation helping change the manner in which old individuals are thought about? That is the most irritating mistake I have ever observed, and furthermore the most predominant. Additionally, when it promptly follows and, is repetitive: That is the most irritating blunder I have ever observed, and the most pervasive. 10. Maintaining a strategic distance from Prolixity Abstain from colorful, verbose portrayals. The accompanying sentence is an extraordinary case of liberal longwindedness, yet except if one is intentionally prolix in the administration of silliness, be cautious about getting control over too much elaborate exposition: One may with the most extreme certainty exposition to win in a discussion in which one declares that having one’s own methods for vehicular movement offers one more prominent adaptability than open transportation gives in the matter of movement to one’s spot of learning or work or to social events. Pare such excessively confounded structure: â€Å"It’s simple to win a contention that having one’s own vehicle makes it simpler to get the chance to class or work or to meet companions than if one uses open transportation.† Need to improve your English in a short time a day? How We Hire 3 Interview Approaches for Sourcing a Great Team

How We Hire 3 Interview Approaches for Sourcing a Great Team When you spot an exciting job opportunity, it’s only natural to feel a little anxious about what the recruitment process might involve. However, at MeisterLabs we believe that hiring processes should never be scary. They should be a reciprocal exercise into judging whether the position would be a good opportunity for the applicant, and vice versa. To provide insight for any potential applicants, we thought we’d provide a walk-through of how we approach hiring decisions at MeisterLabs. This way, applicants can feel assured that there won’t be any nasty surprises along the way ?? Our Hiring Aims at MeisterLabs As I shared in my last People Management post, our hiring plans at MeisterLabs are fairly ambitious. We’re looking to grow our company from 30 to 50 employees by spring this year, hiring across our Vienna and Seattle offices. And, of course, we don’t just want numbers. We want to recruit talented, enthusiastic team members, who will be a great fit for our team. To assess who’s right for the role, we undertake a quick exercise in suitability diagnostics, coined by psychology professor Heinz Schuler in his book Psychologische Personalauswahl. The suitability exercises are based on three key approaches: the construct approach, the biographical approach, and the simulation approach. At MeisterLabs, we sample from each of these three approaches when hiring for positions. We also assess applicants against our company values, which well share in this article. So, here’s what’s behind each of Schuler’s approaches and what you can expect when applying for a role at MeisterLabs: 1. The Construct Approach: How Do You Respond to Challenges? The aim of the construct approach is to allow us to get to know each other, based on some relatively testable criteria. For example, how does this person tackle difficult technical problems? And are they able to think outside of the box when facing a challenge? In order to assess this, we have a few test questions for our frontend and backend development roles, put together by our existing development team. These challenges are important for us because, in the rewrite of our whole tech stack, we’re looking to take on highly skilled developers. These assessments help us to judge whether someone’s technical abilities are up to scratch.  They also  correlate with our company value to continually strive for excellence. An assessment for a backend developer position Other common examples of assessment via the construct approach would be general cognitive tests. These tests, known as IQ tests or psychological tests, are more commonly found in corporate workplaces. However, please don’t fear we don’t use these at MeisterLabs! Instead, we ask applicants to provide examples of how they’ve conducted a challenge in the past, to assess whether they made smart choices. These stories are shared and heard during the second stage of an applicant’s assessment: the biographical approach, conducted during an interview. 2. The Biographical Approach: What’s Your Story? When interviewing at MeisterLabs, we want to get to know your story. We believe that each person’s story provides the context for our experiences, and it’s through these experiences that we’re able to ?nd the inspiration to make an impact. Each of us has been transformed in some way through every job we’ve held, each important interaction we’ve had and each personal success or failure we’ve experienced. Of course, it’s important for us to hear about the responsibilities you’ve managed in previous jobs, to understand whether you can get the job done. But it’s also important for us to understand the reasons why you’re sat with us for an interview. As Bill George, Peter Sims, Andrew N. McLean, and Diana Mayer describe, inspiration can be traced directly from your story and we encourage you to share it. We experienced the power of someone’s story during our extensive search for a part-time Office Manager. When Christoph, a molecular biology student, applied for the role, it demonstrated how fast a company can make a hiring decision. Specifically, when an applicant’s personal decisions seem harmonized and illustrative of the kind of person you’d like to hire. Our new team member worked for many years as a social worker. During his interview, Christoph took us on this personal journey, telling us about his daily work with clients. It was not only moving but also led to a clear conclusion: by explaining how he used analytical problem-solving skills on a daily basis with a variety of clients, Christoph quickly proved his high social competence, an ability to improvise and a strong sense of initiative. Christoph also demonstrated himself to be someone exercising respect and valuing equality, as a proactive team member covering three of our key company values at MeisterLabs. In Christoph’s case, the decision for us was simple. An hour after his interview, we hired him. Our MeisterLabs company values 3. Simulation Approach: How Would You Perform in the Role? When recruiting for leadership positions, we often try to simulate a situation that’s important for the job. For instance, we were asking our applicants for the position of Head of Marketing to develop and present a strategy for 2018, as well as to lead a workshop on email marketing. Our Marketing team members were invited to join these presentations, in order to assess the knowledge, strategic abilities and leadership skills of each candidate. Of course, we know that a candidate can’t have all of the answers yet. However, we can evaluate their understanding of our business and the wider industry, as well as their presentation style and leadership approach. Simulations are also a great way of demonstrating that you’re bringing something new and creative to the company. Just like every organization, we know that outside opinions will help us to remain competitive. Returning to our company values we always aim to innovate and fresh insights from new team members help us to achieve this. Testing specific skills, getting to know someone’s story during an interview, and simulating important professional situations, all help us to build up an image of how someone would fit into our team. If you like the sound of working at MeisterLabs, wed love to hear from you! You can  check out our open positions on our MeisterLabs jobs page. If you can’t spot a current opening but feel you would be a good fit for our team, or have any questions,  please feel free to drop me a message  to Lena (at) meisterlabs.com ??

The best way to beat this thought and to pass the exam, most of all, is to learn how to best prepare for it.Research on what the college entrance exam is aboutOne of the first steps to succeeding in the exam is to know what you are getting yourself into.First thing to consider: not every college entrance exam is the same. Each college has its own specialty, its own way to measure how well someone performs as a student. Some colleges may put a premium on science subjects and give focus on biology, botany, and the like in the exam. Ivy League institutions like Harvard and Yale measure the applicants knowledge in multiple fields.In general, there are two main things that you will want to know about a college entrance exam:1. CoverageThis is the substance of the entire college entrance exam. Learning about the coverage of the exam allows you to know exactly what to prepare yourself for. One of the worst feelings with studying is realizing that the things tha t you studied for never appear in the exam. All that effortgone!You will not experience that heartbreak if you learned exactly what you need to learn.2. ExperienceFrankly speaking, knowing the coverage alone allows you to already take the exam head-on. Knowing what other people experienced with it, however, allows you to calm yourself by a whole lotand being calm is very important in success, as it will be be talked about later.Learning about other peoples experiences allows you to measure just how difficult the exam is. More importantly, however, it lets you relax as you realize that your feelings of anxiety and doubts are something that other people also felt. In the end, you would not feel alone because of it.One of the best ways to figure out what a college entrance exam is about is by asking people who have taken it before. Not only will they tell you their frustrations about the exam; they will also tell you which parts of the exam are difficult or if there is something in par ticular that you will need to focus on.Some online articles can also have some revealing information on a particular college entrance exam. These are not very reliable, though. Most likely, they will talk about their self-doubt and reflections about the exam and less about what it actually covers. These are helpful in giving you some motivation, however, so you can take them as you might.Lastly, of course, the college itself also provides information on what the exam will cover. These are definitely reliable in a wide regard. Note, though, that this is also limited. Colleges will not tell you how difficult their exams are, only that they are comprehensive. They also cannot beat other people in talking about personal experiences with the exam.In short, try to look for these sources of information:Online sources: articles and opinion pieces that talk about a persons experience in taking the exam.Family, friends, other people: those who you are connected with and who took the college e ntrance exams themselves.College info: the very college that gives the exam itself.Remember to combine all of your research together to cover both the coverage and the experience and to prepare yourself the best way possible.Study, study, study!Just like any other exam, the best way to prepare for the college entrance exam is to study for it. With how much you have researched before on the coverage, you should be able to boil down what you have to study.The question now is how you study. Here, there are two main methods of studying that are each very effective.Review classesWhat better way to focus on a particular college entrance exam is there than to take classes that, well, focus on that particular exam?Review classes have a very systematic, step-by-step process in teaching potential applicants about the exams. They are highly specialized in teaching you what you need to learn and recall to best prepare yourself.Their primary means of instruction is traditional teaching, covering most, if not all, of the subjects that need focusing on in the exam. Just like traditional education, review classes put you together with other aspiring college applicants as you all learnor relearnfrom the lessons. A benefit from this is that you can work with other people to improve your learning even further.The only difficulty with review classes is the scheduling. Review classes are held on a specific time schedule which may work for some people but not for everyone. Other times, some people find themselves too late to apply for a review class, or perhaps that the review class has gone too far along its course that the student has to do a lot of catching up.A simple way to solve this is to prepare as soon as you can. Inquire about review classes as soon as you can so that you will be right on time.Self-studyNo one really knows more about what you are missing than yourself.Review classes can get you far, and the testaments of other people who took the exam definitely could bri ng some help. In the end, however, it is all in your hands.A great advantage that self-studying has over attending review classes is that you can do it at your own schedule. No need to follow a schedule to your inconvenience.The biggest difficulty with this, however, is that you really have to put in a lot of effort, discipline, and commitment. With so much freedom in your hands to study, you could ironically use so little of it to actually prepare.Even more difficult is that you are limited to the resources that you have. Review classes provide the materials and the syllabus; you will have to rely on your own workings to come up with those items.It is highly advised, therefore, to do self-study along with review classes for best effect.RelaxDoing nothing does something? Indeed, it does. Learning how to relax even before college will help you prepare for the stress in college that is in store for you.Going back, this probably sounds very counterproductive. When someone thinks of doi ng all it takes to get what they want, what usually come up are images of a hardened person, spilling blood, sweat, and tears as he studies hard under a lamp. That does speak a lot of what hard work is about, but it is not all of what hard work is about.Say that you work for 24 hours straight for an exam. Does that mean maximum productivity? Your mind and body will slowly get tired. Your concentration will decrease and your thoughts and ideas, which were flowing like a faucet before, can now barely let out a leak. Overall, your performance worsens, and it will show in your results. Now, how is that for counterproductive?Hard work does not always mean working yourself to exhaustion. It also means giving yourself the time to cool off, to let off some steam like a machine. Even machines cannot work all the time, as they break down from too much heat. In fact, machines that are consistently pushed to work end up having a much shorter lifespan. If machines need rest, what more do human b eings?So do not feel bad for taking an hour or two off your studies on Netflix or your favorite video game. You need to rest as much as you need to work.One more thing to consider: allot a full day of rest right before the test day itself. That is rightzero work before the battle. All of the studying that you put into the test got you filled with heat and tension. As mentioned before, these can break you down and take away a lot of your ability to perform well. If you want true, maximum performance on taking the college entrance exam, let yourself unwind with a marathon of your favorite Netflix show on the day before the exam.But most of all is that you have to relax throughout the entire preparation. It is understandable to feel pressured:This is my dream college! But it is so hard to get intoI need to get into college because I want to be rich!If I do not pass the college entrance exam, I might have a hard time in the future.These thoughts, among many others, can really be nerve-w racking for a lot of people. While it makes sense that studying hard can give some assurance, in the long run it can do the exact opposite. The best solution is to give yourself a break. Free your mind from those doubts, and you will be in a state that working all the time cannot get you in.Plan out your preparationNow that you know what you need to prepare, it is time to actually prepare.The key here is balance. It is essential to know how much time that you have to put in each day to study for a college entrance exam. As important as it is, it is definitely not the only thing that you have on your hands. For high school students, there are still the current requirements they have at school. Other people may also have their own commitments aside from the exam.Given what has been discussed, however, it is difficult to figure out how to balance everything, the college entrance exam included. For easier distinction, these are the two main types of items to organize:Exam: all things re lated to preparing for the college entrance examreview classes, studying, etc.Non-exam: everything else outside of the preparation.Very anticlimactic names? Maybe so. You can name each category to your liking.You will have to set your schedule around these two categories. How you do so is all up to what you prioritize. Of course, it does not make to prepare for the exam by not reserving any time for it.At the same time, you should not focus only on the exam. If nothing else matters than the exam, by all means study a lot of the exam. Do not dedicate all of your time it, however. It is fantastic if you are determined to ace the exam. But as said before, it is vital to always reserve ample time for rest. A great balance of both will yield the best results and help you overcome this part of the college admissions stress, netting you a pass with flying colors on that college entrance exam that got you riled up all this time.Writing service for studentsThe college entrance examination is just a first step to a wide world of college, where a lot of things can happen for better and for worse. 10 Fiery Muhammad Ali Quotes

In 1964, when  Cassius Clay took on the indefatigable Sonny Liston, nobody realized that a star was born. Cassius Clay had just shaken up the world with his fighting spirit. Not that he was painfully shy about his talent. His announcement to the press just before his winning bout with Sonny Liston that he was the greatest failed to strike a chord with many  skeptics. In fact, his over-the-top arrogance tinged with narcissism made the world wary of this new wannabe. The Megalomania of Muhammad Ali: The Worlds Greatest Sports Star Just before the fight, Cassius  Clay aimed several taunts at the seasoned and dominating Liston, perhaps to intimidate his opponent. He shouted at Liston saying, Someone is going to die at ringside tonight. That evening would probably be the most unforgettable event for many boxing enthusiasts for two reasons. One, they saw a reigning heavyweight boxing champion go down. Two, a 22-year-old underdog with a motormouth and a fetish for trash-talking had just made history. Cassius Clay, who became known as Muhammad Ali after he changed his religion, took the world by storm. Each time Muhammad Ali won, he reminded the world that he was the greatest. He didnt say that he was the best, strongest, finest, or richest. He declared, I am the greatest! He pronounced it with  Ãƒ ©lan. He could work up a frenzy in the ring and announce his greatness to the world. Never before had anyone seen a sports figure so brazen, so in-your-face, and so brutally honest. When Muhammad Ali Went Against the US Government Most sports fan admire Muhammad Ali as the greatest boxer that ever lived. He took on many fights inside the ring and outside the ring. Those that he fought inside the ring were easy matches. He literally called the shots there. However, the ones he fought outside the ring were the toughest fights he ever had. Most of them were against the establishment. The man who could float like a butterfly and sting like a bee often got on the wrong side of the ruling class. His vitriolic statements sent the press into a tizzy. His witty comebacks and sarcasm pushed buttons of many a politician. When asked about whether he would serve in the army for the Vietnam War, he cockily replied,   Man, I aint got no quarrel with them Viet Cong. No Vietcong ever called me n****r. He had an uncanny sense of humor, a quick temper, a big mouth, and a soft heart. One of his wicked comments that often grab headlines is: I am America. I am the part you wont recognize, but get used to me. Black, confident, cocky. My name, not yours. My religion, not yours. My goals, my own. Get used to me.   Ali once said, Allah is the greatest. Im just the greatest boxer. And indeed, he was. As three times winner of the linear world heavyweight championship, a title held by no other boxer, Muhammad Ali was a nightmare for his opponents. He was awarded the Sportsman of the Century by the BBC and Sports Illustrated magazine in 1999. Muhammad Ali Never Minced His Words: 10 Quotes Prove His Indomitable Spirit Muhammad Ali was not just one of the greatest sporting icons that ever lived, he was also a great orator. Some of his quotes are legendary.  These 10 reveal what it takes to have a winning attitude. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. His hands cant hit what his eyes cant see. Now you see me, now you dont. George thinks he will, but I know he wont. These words made one of the best quotes in sporting history. Ali spoke these words just  before his fight with George Foreman in 1974. These words catapulted Muhammad Ali to instant fame.   Its lack of faith that makes people afraid of meeting challenges, and I believe in myself. You think I was shocked when Nixon resigned? Wait till I whup George Foremans behind. I done something new for this fight, I done tassled with an alligator! Thats right. I have tassled with an alligator! I done tussled with a whale! I done handcuffed lightning, throwed thunder in jail! Only last week I murdered a rock, injured a stone. Hospitalized a brick. I’m so mean I make medicine sick. Champions arent made in the gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them: a desire, a dream, a vision. If they can make penicillin out of moldy bread, they can sure make something out of you. If you ever dream of beating me... you better wake up and apologize. Joes gonna be smokin an I aint even jokin but Ill be peckin and a pokin and Ill pour water on that smokin. Now this might astound and amaze ya but I will destroy Jo Frazier. There are two things that are hard to hit and see, thats a spooky ghost and Muhammed Ali. Like The Beatles, there will never be anything like them. Like my man, Elvis Presley. I was the Elvis of boxing. Im not the greatest, Im the double greatest. Not only do I knock em out, I pick the round. Im the boldest, the prettiest, the most superior, most scientific, most skilfullest fighter in the ring today.

The Truth About Rap Drastically Changing Society - Free Essay Example

Sample details Pages: 7 Words: 2003 Downloads: 5 Date added: 2019/04/01 Category Society Essay Level High school Tags: Truth Essay Did you like this example? â€Å"Hey, Slim, that’s my girlfriend screamin’ in the trunk, but I didn’t slit her throat, I just tied her up†(Eminem). Rap music is a bad influence on teenagers, and plays a huge role in many kids lives (Abdul-Karim). It creates kids being violent, with the influence of violent context in songs that lead to drug or alcohol abuse (Abdul- Karim). Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "The Truth About Rap Drastically Changing Society" essay for you Create order According to Dr. Brian Primack from The University of Pittsburgh, â€Å"A person comes across 251 references of drugs per day in rap music† (Acharya). A 1986 context analysis of forty hours of rap music, sex and violence was linked to 80% of all rap music (Hattemer). Today’s rap music lyrics are meaner, and more explicit talking about sex, hatred, drugs and violence (Ford). An audience listening to rap music does have an effect by hearing all the terrible references a rapper says including sexual and drug references that impact the youth. It’s reported that listening to violence or drug use songs, kids are more likely to be violent or try drugs. The development of rap music all began in the 70’s by a Jamaican vocalist, DJ U-Roy: he had three top ten songs and a style called toasting (Adaso). Eventually, rap started to evolve into a masterpiece in the late 80’s. Whodini, however, was the first group to shoot a rap music video and release it to the public. Then in the early 90’s, Ice Cube and Easy E took a turn and started to rap and release music about growing up and their early years as opposed to other rappers, who rapped about the gangsta lifestyle (Whit). In the mid 90’s Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog made an album named Doggystyle, which was the first album to enter Billboard chart at #1; a year after that, Ready To Die by Notorious B.I.G was one of the biggest albums released in rapping industry. In the early 2000’s, a new face came into the rap world: Eminem. He was the first white rapper, who competed in rap battles in Detroit. He was then founded by Dr. Dre, who started his career and later on released one of his first albums Encore, that went four-times platinum and would change the rap game entirely. Female rappers—such as Nicki Minaj and Queen Latifah—have led many females to the rap industry to inspire more female rappers to hit the platforms and pursue their dreams. There are many unmeaning-full rappers including Asap Rocky, Kendrick Lamar and Drake, who just rap about superficial things: money, drugs, and violence (Whit). The evolution of rapping has change into a phenomenon and has changed the way music has been interpreted, creating more violent kids by the lyrics of music. The media plays a huge part in violence in our community (Abdul). Rap lyrics discuss violence as a part of an exciting and dangerous lifestyle, which makes the youth get influenced and listening more to these rappers (Jackson). Rap lyrics are over-exaggerated to attract mainstream viewers like kids; the Black Youth Project conducted a research project that revealed that 58% black youth and 23% white youth listen to rap (Archarya). Rap music corrupts kids with all of the violent altercations in them. Black youths have a higher rate to listen to rap music because of their surroundings and where they live. Most black teens are raised around rap music because that’s part of their lifestyle, but it affects how teens act with all the violent abuse in the songs. Research done at Western Connecticut State University â€Å"found that those who listen to music with violence lyrics are more likely to be violent† (Jackson). In 30 rap songs documented by a student, there were 396 references of violence, which evens out to be 13.2 references per song. In the song â€Å"Billy† by 6ix9ine, one can expect to hear: â€Å"Get the f**k up out of my f***ing face before I murder you.† One can also hear, â€Å"Seven shots-shots-shots-shots-shots-shots n***a, errybody get pop-pop-popped n***a.† Violence is learned as a kid, and one of the things influencing violence is rap music. Rap is played all around young kids, which exposes them to violence and abuse. Rappers make songs that promote violence as a riveting event. Kids shouldn’t be around music like that. Violence has increased drastically in the past two decades, and most of it is from rap music. Rap music has influenced drug and alcohol abuse in the past two decades. Rappers positively portray drug abuse (Preidt). There have been many different things for rappers to rap about; anything from the dangers of crack and cocaine to glorify the use of weed, is present in rap music (Preidt). According to Dr. Brian Primack from the University of Pittsburgh, â€Å"A person comes across 251 references of drugs per day listening to rap music† (Acharya). Furthermore, a study by researchers at the University of California, found that there was a sixfold increase in drug references in songs over the past two decades (Preidt). In 30 songs, there were a total of 252 drug and alcohol references, which is a total of 8.4 references per song. The song â€Å"Young Wild and Free† by Snoop Dog and Wiz Khalifa states: â€Å"Roll one, smoke one when you live like this, you’re supposed to party.† In the song â€Å"So High† by Wiz Khalifa, he sings â€Å"I get so high, and I be floating, I get so high.† He also affirmed, â€Å"Tell a n***a, use a grinder for that weed, straight THC, uh huh.† Drug references are heard each day by kids who believe to be like these rappers who smoke weed, party, and drink. Most rappers talk about smoking marijuana and sipping on jin and juice, which is a terrible influence on kids who are exposed to rap music. This increases the chance of drug and alcohol use by kids and could potentially affect their entire lives. Many rappers want to gloat about how much money they have, â€Å"by boasting† in the lyrics or music videos. Rappers want to gain an audience by attracting people with things that they have that an average person doesn’t have (Armoudia). Brad Jordan, a rapper, says he raps â€Å"to flex and gain an audience which makes me more money, that’s how it works†(Jones). In 30 songs, there was 234 references about money which is 7.8 references a song. The song â€Å"10 Freaky Girls† by Metro Boomin, shows many references to money and having boats, cars and girls. If a person would listen, (the person) would hear, â€Å"Hangin off my earlobes is a rock.† â€Å"I got 10 freaky girls on a yacht.† In the song called â€Å"I Mean It† by G-Eazy, he states, â€Å"If I ever said I’m getting money just know I mean it.† In the song â€Å"Womp Womp† by Valee he states, â€Å"Pockets so fat that I need Bally total fitness,† stating that he has so much money in his pockets, that he needs to spend it and get rid of it. Songs like these show kids and adults the opposite of what should really happen with peoples money. Rappers talk a lot about buying random things and not being smart with money, but in reality, kids should save their money. Many rappers talk about things most people want in their life, and people like to dream about being rich; clearly, many of these rappers have expensive things and rap about it for the gain of fans. Many rappers also are uncaring and care about the money and fame, which sometimes make people dislike the rapper; indeed, there is definitely a difference in the music rappers make, when they love what they do as a living more then just trying to make the money and blow up on the internet. Money can really control people especially rappers, as one can make millions off just one song, and they truly don’t care what they say as far as violence or hatred. Rappers want to have popularity. Rappers gain this popularity in part due to their money and from the public outcry of the morbid things they say. However, not all rap is bad; in fact most of rap has some good things in it. These positive things are overshadowed by terrible lyrics including sexual content (McCall). Hip hop and rap music have a negative impact on the sexual decisions of the youth because they hear explicit lyrics and think it’s okay to imitate or do the actions they hear (Acharya). Many people say how lyrics are truly not that bad. In reality, there are many awful lyrics. In a article from Medium it states â€Å"Because sex appears all throughout media, the public has, for the most part, become numb to it† (Acharya). In research conducted by a student on 30 different songs, there was 324 references on sex which equals out to 10.8 references per song. In the song â€Å"Womp Womp† by Valee, there is many references to sexual content, including, â€Å"She’s a slobber, all on my knob, corn the cobber, sweet thing and that p***y taste like peach cobbler.† He also states in the song: â€Å"F**k her twice, cum, cum.† In another song called â€Å"Billy† by 6ix9ine, says â€Å"Little sick b***h, lickin on my d**k tip, she a freak hoe.† Many sexual references in rap songs are used multiple times repetitively by a rapper. This is used to pull in listeners. There has been a huge increase in kids listening to rap music and with lyrics containing sex and the mistreatment of girls and boys; it can affect how they behave in a good and bad way. Rap is the central part of a powerful cultural movement hip-hop that influences the way kids walk, talk, dress and think (McCall). Kids hearing rap music a thousand times a day becomes a part of their nature and attitude (Abdul). Kids hearing the horrid lyrics of rap music try to imitate groups of rap; in reality kids have no idea what these songs truly represent (Torres). In 30 songs, there were a total of 198 references to social change which is about 6.6 references per song. In the song â€Å"Young Wild and Free† by Wiz Khalifa, it states â€Å"Sagging my pants, not caring what I show.† There has been an impact on what clothes kids wear by the songs they hear, including how kids wear these clothes. For example, kids started to wear pants up to the waste, but recently kids wear them to there knees; stated by Wiz Khalifa in the song â€Å"Young Wild and Free.† Many rappers have a platform where they influence many kids, and for that they should provide better lyrics so the society changes into the good not the bad. Today kids are encouraged by rappers and behave on what they hear, it’s proven that kids will act on what they hear which include how kids wear their hats, or even wearing drug rugs. Rappers have such a large impact on kids that it’s been changing society; rappers need to have a better understanding on wh at they say. Rap influences the youth in a bad way and in a total of 30 songs there was a total of 1,404 atrocious references that are exposed to kids day-to-day. Rap can appeal to kids by the lyrics and can influences them in negative way; teens with all the adverse references in today’s music can become or act like these artists. It’s proven that the more kids who are exposed to violent songs applying sexual content, are more likely to be violent and execute sexual content. In today’s society there isn’t much people can do about explicit music except putting regulations or to not play rap music on the radio. This would decrease the amount kids hear rap music per day and would dramatically affect the society in a good way. Rappers need to stop using explicit lyrics and miss using words to gain an audience because it is affecting kids drastically on their manner of life.

Dreams in A Midsummer Nights Dream Essay example

Oprah Winfrey once said, â€Å"The best thing about dreams is that fleeting moment, when you are between asleep and awake, when you dont know the difference between reality and fantasy, when for just that one moment you feel with your entire soul that the dream is reality, and it really happened.† But, what actually is a dream and what do dreams really have to do with one’s everyday life? In essence, a dream is a series of mental images and emotions occurring during slumber. Dreams can also deal with one’s personal aspirations, goals, ambitions, and even one’s emotions, such as love and hardship. However, dreams can also give rise to uneasy and terrible emotions; these dreams are essentially known as nightmares. In today’s society, the concept†¦show more content†¦This quote really sets the tone and the atmosphere for the entire play because it allows readers to create a time line of events and essentially immerse within it. This quote is s tating that four days will quickly come and go, the days will turn into nights, and the dreaming that occurs during one’s slumber will allow the time to pass even more quickly. Because of Hippolyta’s unique circumstances, it is easy for one to assume that this quote was merely said because of her unconventional and rapid marriage to Theseus. Theseus is the Duke of Athens, and it has been previously mentioned that Hippolyta is the Queen of the Amazons. Upon the beginning of the play, it is known that Theseus has just defeated and returned from a battle with the Amazons. As victor, his spoils include, among other things, marrying Hippolyta. While Theseus is expressing his undying love for his future wife, Hippolyta obviously does not return the sentiments. It is possible that this quote is Hippolyta’s way of merely cursing the effect of dreams because they are ultimately shortening the time that she has left as an unmarried woman. Because she is not in love with T heseus, and is just a victim of an arranged marriage, her dreams permit each day come and go with ease, yet ultimately make theShow MoreRelatedA Midsummer Nights Dream772 Words   |  4 Pages In A Midsummer Nights Dream, one of the masterpieces of William Shakespeare, Shakespeare explores various aspects of love and friendship. Woodrow Wilson has been described as â€Å"cold, aloof and often arrogant, but he was not all intellect. † By the time Wilson was elected governor of New Jersey he had never held a political office, and had never taken more than a theorist’s interest in politics. Wilson’s personal view on how the Presidential office should be run is to lead a country rather than to be lead. We will write a custom essay sample on Historical Problems or any similar topic only for you Order Now He believed that a president should act like a prime minister and not be isolated from Congress. Wilson himself dreamed of a utopian society and amongst his intellectual supporters believed that this â€Å"most terrible and disastrous wars† could be countenanced only by perceiving of it as the harbinger of eternal peace. The utopian spirit of the war took concrete form in Wilson’s proposal of a postwar federation of nations, in itself not a utopian scheme but one which, from the first, was freighted with utopian aspirations. Though Wilson may have been an effective war president by delegating responsibilities to those qualified his aspirations for a perfect world and his sentiments of â€Å"peace without victory† obscured his reality. President Wilson presented his ideas for peace in his famous Fourteen Points address on January 8, 1918. Wilson’s chief goal was to have the treaty provide for the formation of a League of Nations. He hoped that the threat of economic or military punishment from League members, including Germany, would prevent future wars. Though Wilson held a prominent role in drafting the Treaty of Versailles, and would later receive the Nobel Peace Prize for, the other major Allies, however, had little interest in honoring either Wilson’s Fourteen Points or all his goals for the League of Nations. The allies had suffered far greater losses and wanted to punish Germany severely. Strong opposition to the treaty developed in the United States. Many Americans disagreed with Wilson’s generous approach to worn-torn Europe. Republicans objected to U. S. commitments to the League of Nations. The U. S. Senate refused to approve the treaty. Also blocking the passage of the League of Nations was the personal and political conflicts between Wilson and Henry Cabot Lodge. Lodge, who was then the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, insisted the specific and limiting changes be ade to protect U. S. interests. Wilson would not compromise. Unable and perhaps unwilling to reach an agreement with Wilson, Lodge used his power and position to ensure the defeat of the treaty—and prevent American participation in the League of Nations. As to whether or not the postwar would have been different if the United States had accepted and entered the League of Nations, it is unl ikely. America’s refusal to join the League, fitted in with her desire to have an isolationist policy throughout the world. Therefore, the League had a final ideal – to end war for good. However, if an aggressor nation was determined enough to ignore the League’s verbal warnings, all the League could do was enforce economic sanctions and hope these worked as it had no chance of enforcing its decisions using military might. Postwar 1920 brought many radical changes to Americans by the advancement in technology, discoveries, and inventions. Pop culture during the 1920’s was characterized by the flapper, automobiles, nightclubs, movies, and jazz. Life moved fast as a new sense of prosperity and freedom emerged at the end of World War 1. The 1920’s gave American’s radio, films, advertisements, and new literature to ponder. 1915 gave us a movie milestone in The Birth of a Nation, produced by D. W. Griffith. American’s were also given notable authors as F. Scott Fitzgerald, Booth Tarkington, Ernest Hemingway, and Sinclair Lewis. Authors of this period struggled to understand the changes occurring in society. While some writers praised the changes others expressed disappointment in the passing of old ways. But not before the printing press had American’s been brought together by shrinking the distances between people and homes. â€Å"Of all the new products put on the market during the decade, none met with more spectacular success than the radio. † The radio brought into American homes commercials, stories, news, music, sports, and advertisement. Improvements in radio broadcasting and radio manufacturing itself quickly became a big business. Along with the increasing availability of free-home entertainment it created a soaring demand for radios. The 1920’s were wrought with many issues of cultural conflict, prejudices, nativism, and moral policing. Widespread abuse of alcohol had been recognized as a serious social problem since the colonial days, in rural America as well as in cities, and â€Å"demon rum† had been long condemned from many Protestant pulpits during the 1920’s. Prohibition was the government’s solution to protect women, children, and families from the effects of abuse of alcohol, in other words, moral policing. Another example of moral policing today can be found in the controversial topic of legalizing marijuana. â€Å"Conversely, their omission in the present debate reflects the unfortunate reality that marijuana prohibition is perpetuated not by science, but rather by emotion and rhetoric. † The topic of nativism can be shown in three primary issues: immigration restriction, the KKK, and the cases of Sacco and Vanzetti. The old culture was generally anti-immigrant and tended to blame many of the problems of urban industrial American on immigrants. During the 1920’s the old culture, which was extremely nativist in attitude, was able to pass several immigration restriction laws which both lowered the number of immigrants to the U. S. and limited the numbers immigrants from Southern and Eastern Europe, which the old culture was particularly against. They did this through the quota system, set up in the Emergency Immigration Act of 1921 (and the revised with the 1924 National Origins Act) which established a certain number of immigrants from each country to be allowed into the U. S. per year. Each country’s quota was based on a percentage (3%) of people of that nation in the U. S. in the base year of (1910). The â€Å"rebirth† of the KKK was another sign of the nativism of the 1920’s as this â€Å"new† KKK was not only black, but also anti-Jewish, anti-Catholic and anti-immigrant. So have American’s learned their lesson from the 1920’s and have they changed their attitudes concerning nativism, moral policing, and are we still considered a prejudice country? In the year 2011, do American’s still consider them as being progressive and that they refuse to repeat history? Nativisim and prejudices can still be felt and seen throughout the United States. Our country is still debating nativism in the current situation with illegal immigrants. Newspapers, television shows, the radio, and internet are covered in stories of immigration policies. Our country is still swarmed with prejudices between races, religions, and lifestyles. It is our history to repeat and forget our past mistakes. As stated before, the 1920’s brought many radical changes to America with the advancement in technology, discoveries, and inventions. Pop culture in the 1920’s was characterized by the flapper, automobiles, nightclubs, movies, and music. Life moved fast as a new sense of prosperity and freedom emerged at the end of World War I. In many ways our current era is like that of the 1920’s. Our society is now connected to each other via the internet, and Facebook. On the spot news is even better now with television and radio and better yet the cell phone. Society is overrun with the most current, up-to-date news, even if no one cares what reading or hearing about. We are still a drug crazed and alcohol abusing society with fast cars, outrageous clothes and hairstyles. It just may be that we are going at a faster pace than those in the 1920’s. What can be seen differently is that maybe our morals have diminished in some aspects of society. Not that all society can be defined as a whole, as there are still those in our current society and those of the 1920’s that still and did value self respect, morals, God, and country. My New Brother free essay sample

In mid November 2010, I was just getting used to my sophomore year of high school. I’d had a sleepover with some friends, a normal weekend activity, and my mom picked me up the next day. That was when things stopped being so normal. There was an uncomfortable tension in the air that I’ve never had with my mother before. I was growing more and more nervous thinking that I had done something wrong. That’s when she finally spoke. She had asked me how I would feel if I found out that I had another brother, and how I liked the idea of being an aunt. So many things were running through my mind, how could this be possible? And why am I just finding out now?My immediate response was shock. Then I was confused and angry. My emotions were like a roller coaster – twisting and turning every time I thought about some stranger coming into my life. We will write a custom essay sample on My New Brother or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page I didn’t understand how my parents could keep this from me for fifteen years.I didn’t have long to warm up to the idea of having a new half brother, because my mom had arranged a day for us to meet after Christmas. When this day finally came, my nerves were uncontrollable. I could smell the lemon scented Pledge and Windex while my mom frantically cleaned the house. I tried putting on a fake smile to hide how uncomfortable that I was really feeling inside. I wanted to be strong and show my younger brother, Doug, that everything was going to be alright.When they finally arrived, we met my not-so-new brother Dennis, his wife Christine, and his three children, Cassadie, Carah, and DJ. The resemblance that I share with my â€Å"new† brother is scary. We spent the day learning about each other’s families and about Dennis’ rough childhood growing up in a bad part of the city. He didn’t have a great relationship with his mother, because she was often more involved with the drugs and alcohol surrounding her life. Growing up in these kinds of circumstances makes a lot of people bitter and angry, but not my brother. He never let his unfortunate past negatively affect how he is today.Meeting my new family was the best Christmas gift that I got that year. Seeing how important family is to Dennis made me realize that I sometimes take my own for granted. He’s opened my eyes and made me realize how lucky I am to have parents that support and encourage me. Having the responsibility of being an aunt, and an older sister to my younger brother, has put me in my place to always think twice before doing something that I’ll regret. Because of them I have become a leader, a mentor, and an overall better person. I’m kinder, more patient, and much more understanding than I was before. I am somebody that they look up to and come to when they need to talk, and I never want that to change.

9 Pieces of Celebrity Advice That Will Inspire You to Succeed in 2017

9 Pieces of Celebrity Advice That Will Inspire You to Succeed in 2017 Love them, hate them, or roll your eyes when you see them make news for ridiculous things, famous people have something in common: they’re good at what they do, or you probably wouldn’t know who they are. And while you probably shouldn’t, say, take medical advice from George Clooney or legal advice from Justin Timberlake, it’s worth seeing what kind of celebrity advice they have to offer. As we look to the new year with its blank slate, let’s also look at how some household names in business, Hollywood, and politics approach career, success, and life balance. On Finding Purpose and DirectionOne of the first things you should do in the new year is figure out what you  want your  goals to be. To do that, it’s important to figure out what motivates you, and what you really want to be doing with your professional life. A new year is a chance to take a look at what motivates you now, because that may not be the same thing that motivated you in the past. Take the opportunity to look at who you are now, and what forces are moving you forward.â€Å"Stop chasing the money and start chasing the passion. - Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zapposâ€Å"’May the Force be with you’ is charming but it’s not important. What’s important is that you become the Force- for yourself and perhaps for other people.† - Harrison Ford, actorOn Being Your Own Biggest AssetNot to get all sappy on you, but your best ally in this process is, well, you. Networks are important, but as you get ready to ramp up your career in the new year, make sure you’re putting enough value and emphasis on the skills, experience, and expertise that you already have. 2017 should be a year of moving forward with confidence, not stalling out due to self-doubt.â€Å"Don’t discount yourself, no matter what you’re doing. Everyone has a unique perspective that they can bring to the world. Just have faith in yourself and trust yo urself.† - Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of FacebookOn Achieving SuccessSuccess is not an instant result, no matter who you are or what you do. People who achieve that success have gotten there because they stuck it out, and threw everything they had at the process. CEOs, entertainers, thinkers†¦the version of â€Å"success† is different for each of them, but they have one thing in common: effort + time.â€Å"When I was 15, I left school to start a magazine, and it became a success because I wouldn’t take no for an answer.† - Richard Branson, CEO of the Virgin Groupâ€Å"There’s no such thing as overnight success. That’s my concern with a show like American Idol. It encourages the false belief that there’s a kind of magic, that you can be ‘discovered.’ That may be the way television works, but it’s not the way the world works. Rising to the top of any field requires an enormous amount of dedication, focus, drive, talen t, and 99 factors that they don’t show on television. It’s not simply about being picked. Which, by the way, is why very few of the anointed winners on American Idol have gone on to true success. Most have flamed out and gone away. That should tell us something.† - Malcolm Gladwell, authorâ€Å"Success is just a war of attrition. Sure, there’s an element of talent you should probably possess. But if you just stick around long enough, eventually something is going to happen.† - Dax Shepard, actorâ€Å"Do the work. Out-work. Out-think. Out-sell your expectations. There are no shortcuts.† - Mark Cuban, entrepreneurOn Why You Should Never Give UpIf you give up on your goals because you’re seeing too many challenges or it feels too hard, no one is going to run up to you, shouting, â€Å"come back! Just kidding, here’s what you want.† Once you figure out what you want to achieve and start devising your plan to get there, itâ₠¬â„¢s crucial to stick to that, whether things get tough or are taking longer than you thought they would. You’re tougher than you think you are, so don’t let setbacks deter you from those bigger goals.â€Å"I’m very glad my mother didn’t let me quit piano lessons at age 10. She said I wasn’t old enough or good enough to make that decision, and she was right. I remember at the time I was shocked. I did not like that my mother said those things to me. But when I got a chance to play with Yo-Yo Ma or more recently with Aretha Franklin, I thought, I’m really glad she said what she did.† - Condoleezza Rice, former Secretary of StateOn Seizing OpportunitiesIn 2017, be ready to size up and grab potential opportunities. Do research, talk to people in your network, and always keep an eye out for new jobs, new skill-building opportunities, anything that can help you along the way. If you’re not proactive, you’ll either miss poten tial opportunities entirely, or watch them slip right by you and turn into someone else’s chances.â€Å"People ask, ‘What’s the best role you’ve ever played?’ The next one.† - Kevin Kline, actorâ€Å"Put your head down and work hard. Never wait for things to happen make them happen for yourself through hard graft and not giving up.† - Gordon Ramsay, chef, entrepreneur, and TV personalityâ€Å"If I can’t make it through one door, I’ll go through another door- or I’ll make a door. Something terrific will come no matter how dark the present is.† - Joan Rivers, comedianâ€Å"I feel that luck is preparation meeting opportunity.† - Oprah Winfrey, entrepreneur and world dominatorOn Why It’s Okay to FailNobody likes failure- but it’s inevitable at some point. You know that song â€Å"Everybody Hurts,† by R.E.M.? The career version of it is, â€Å"everybody flops, sometimes.† Itâ₠¬â„¢s going to happen, it’s going to hurt, and you should be ready to take that failure and learn from it so you can keep moving forward. Don’t let minor failures derail your year of progress.â€Å"Failure is not the opposite of success; it’s a stepping stone to success.† - Arianna Huffington, founder of The Huffington Postâ€Å"Failure meant a stripping away of the inessential. I stopped pretending to myself that I was anything other than what I was, and began to direct all my energy into finishing the only work that mattered to me. Had I really succeeded at anything else, I might never have found the determination to succeed in the one arena I believed I truly belonged.† - J.K. Rowling, authorOn Overcoming Career Obstacles2017 will have obstacles. That’s non-negotiable. But when you’re faced with those challenges, don’t let them stop your progress. Instead, ask yourself how they can factor into your journey.â€Å"When faced with sexism or ageism or lookism or even really aggressive Buddhism, ask yourself the following question, ‘Is this person between me and what I want to do?'† - Tina Fey, comedian and writerOn Why Being a Lone Wolf Doesn’t WorkIf you think your 2017 journey is all about you, you’re mistaken. You are the most important piece of it, yes. But being a good team member, and knowing when to rely on others is a skill that you should start practicing as early in the year as possible. It’s not just that others can help you directly (although many can); it’s just as much learning what you can from others to apply to your own professional life.â€Å"What I have discovered, is this: You can’t do it alone. As you navigate through the rest of your life, be open to collaboration. Other people and other people’s ideas are often better than your own. Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you, spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life.† - Amy Poehler, comedian and writerâ€Å"I look for a positive attitude and are they easy to work with, are people gonna like working with them? It’s very important to like the people you work with, otherwise life [and] your job is gonna be quite miserable.† - Elon Musk, entrepreneur and CEO of Tesla Motors and SpaceXâ€Å"The best advice I ever got is: You’re the average of the five people you associate with the most.† - Tim Ferriss, author and entrepreneurOn Achieving Balance While Pursuing Your GoalsIf you have some aggressive professional goals in 2017 (new job, promotion, new approach to your existing job), don’t let those crowd out everything in your life. Making room for your personal growth, development, and happiness is just as essential. This may involve some creative thinking and sacrifices, but when you get to the other side of 2017, you don’t want to be thinking, â€Å"I wish I’d made time for thi ngs that make me happy.†Ã¢â‚¬Å"Believe you can do anything. This is important for everyone and especially for women. Don’t let anyone tell you can’t have both a meaningful professional career and a fulfilling personal life. When you hear someone say you can’t do something, know that you can and start figuring out how. Ask yourself, ‘What would I do if I weren’t afraid?’† - Sheryl Sandberg, COO of FacebookAs you gear up for 2017 and the banner career year you’re going to have (whether you’re looking for new opportunities or working on growing in the role you already have), think about these bits of advice given by people who’ve reached the top of their fields. And more importantly, think about how you can make these recommendations work for you, and seize your next great opportunity!
